Travel from Arlanda to Uppsala
Information updated: 26.07.2013
The Arlanda airport is located 35 km south of Uppsala, between Uppsala and Stockholm. Some ways to get to Uppsala are the following.
(1) Train from Arlanda to Uppsala, takes 20 minutes. The train leaves from Sky city (next to terminal 5) and arrives at Uppsala Central station. The trains are frequent and cost about 165 SEK one-way. Note that two different companies run these trains, and if you buy a ticket for a UL/SL train you can only take such a train, and if you buy a ticket for an SJ train you can only take an SJ train. Tickets can be bought at the top of the escalator that leads down to the tracks at Sky city, or at any information desk at Arlanda. The sales personnel will give you proper information. The train schedule can also be found here (search from “Arlanda C” to “Uppsala C”); where the trains from both companies (as well as Bus 801; see below) are listed.
(2) Taxi, takes about 25 minutes to the Ångström Laboratory or to central Uppsala (most of them use fixed price. There are lots of taxi companies represented outside the terminal buildings. If you find a “Taxi Kurir Uppsala” or “Taxi Kurir Stockholm“, the price should be 450 SEK. That is among the lowest you will find. To be sure they will be at Arlanda at the same time as you, one can preferably book in advance, phone no. +46 18 123456 (they will wait with a sign in the arrival hall if they know your flight no). “Uppsala taxi” can be booked on phone no. +46 18 100 000, and for 495-520 SEK they will also greet you in the arrival hall.
(3) Bus 801, is run by UL (Upplands Lokaltrafik), takes 40 minutes, costs about 100 SEK, departs every half-hour from all terminals, and arrives at the Uppsala Central station. Timetables can be found on the UL web site: http://www.ul.se/en/Travel/Timetables/ (Go to Regional buses => 801 Uppsala – Knivsta/AR – Arlanda). The ticket can be bought on the bus with a credit card (not cash! and not American express or Diners).
